“CARE” is a word with wide meaning. At the Holland Christian Home, it means providing residents with the best physical, emotional and spiritual health possible at every stage of life. In that spirit, we invite you to support a special telecommunications project that will benefit residents of our Mountain View Nursing Unit.
A key component of Life Care is our Mountain View Nursing Unit. Though every effort is made to include Mountain View residents in the life and activities of the Home, mobility issues mean some simply are not able to participate as much as they might like. Our “Mountain Vision” project aims to address their desire for greater connectedness to their fellow residents.
Mountain Vision will mount flat screen televisions on the wall for all 52 beds in Mountain View and provide a hand-held speaker unit for each resident to allow for individual volume control. Similar to the hospital systems with which many of us are familiar, this will allow residents to connect with the outside world news, or a favorite sports team or program, in a way that respects neighboring residents.
However, Mountain Vision will also include an audio/video feed from the Home’s Chapel and Main Dining Room. Channeled to the new television units in Mountain View, this feed will allow residents to see and hear events and activities in these areas of the Home when they are unable to attend in person. Residents who can’t be physically present at an event will still be able to discuss it and share in the conversations afterwards. This fellowship fosters emotional wellbeing by providing better connection to the Home’s community.
The cost to install Mountain Vision is estimated at approximately $85,000. As a private facility the Holland Christian Home receives no direct government funding, relying instead on the faithful support of businesses and individuals who have enabled us to meet the challenges of change and growth for over 117 years. It would be a privilege to have you as partner in this project, through a special gift.
On behalf of the Holland Christian Home family, we deeply appreciate your commitment to our residents. If you have question about Mountain Vision or how you can be a part of this project, please feel free to contact us by email or by phone at 973-427-4087.
