The Home Earns Top Rating from NJ State

Holland Home receives deficiency free ratingThe Holland Christian Home recently received a ‘Deficiency Free’ rating for 2013 for their annual survey from the N.J. Department of Health and Senior Services (NJDHSS).

The rating is the highest awarded by NJDHSS and comes following an unannounced, on-site inspection survey that lasted two days.  The survey provides a comprehensive assessment of the Home’s compliance with over 1,500 specific state and federal standards in every area of operation – from the care provided, to the condition of the building and grounds to the integrity of record-keeping procedures and more.

The deficiency-free rating represents exemplary care, and is rare even for the best facilities.  From 2005 to 2009, for example, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) reports 10 percent or less of nursing homes in the Home’s size classification (100 to 199 beds) achieved deficiency-free ratings (from the 2010 Nursing Home Data Compendium, the most recent available).

“This rating reflects the Home’s ongoing commitment to the highest possible standards of care and our dedication to providing an unparalleled quality of life for our residents,” said Caryn Edelbach, the Home’s Administrator.  “It would not have been possible without the efforts of everyone here – our staff, Board members, volunteers, supporters and even the residents themselves.
